Honour of ST. BERNADETTE OF LOURDES
♦On February 11, 1858, 14-year-old Bernadette while she was sent to gather firewood, a very beautiful lady appeared to her in a grotto called Massabielle.
♦The Woman who wore blue and white, smiled at Bernadette made the sign of the cross with a rosary of ivory and gold. Bernadette fell to her knees, took out her own rosary and began to pray.
♦On February 18, Bernadette said "the vision" asked her to return to the grotto each day for a fortnight.
♦Mary revealed her identity as “I am the Immaculate Conception”, gave Bernadette some messages and also asked for a chapel to be built there.
♦On February 25, Mary had told her "to drink of the water of the spring, to wash in it and to eat the herb that grew there" as an act of penance.
♦From the next day onwards, the grotto's muddy waters had been cleared and fresh clear water flowed, which are now the 'Healing Waters of Lourdes'.
♦She died at the young age of 35. Her body was exhumed many years later and found to be INCORRUPT.
