DAY 7 - OCTOBER 12
WE ASK CHRIST THAT OUR HEART MAY BE WOUNDED WITH LOVE. IT MAY SOUND STRANGE TO ASK FOR A WOUND, BUT IT IS NO DIFFERENT FROM THE IDEA THAT "LOVE HURTS," BECAUSE WE'RE WILLING TO SACRIFICE OUR OWN DESIRES FOR THE ONE WE LOVE.
PRAYER: O most loving Lord Jesus Christ! we thank Thee for the wonderful gift of the wound in the heart which Thou didst grant to Thy beloved Teresa; we pray Thee, by Thy merits, and by those of Thy seraphic spouse, to grant us also a like wound of love, that, henceforth, we may love Thee and give our mind to the love of nothing but Thee. (Note: In the first verse of the prayer, the phrase "Thy seraphic spouse" refers to the Church, the Bride of Christ. Seraphic means angelic).

LET US PRAY: Graciously hear us, O God of our salvation! that as we rejoice in the commemoration of the blessed virgin Teresa, so we may be nourished by her heavenly doctrine, and draw from thence the fervor of a tender devotion; through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

REFLECTION - WE MUST SUBMIT TO THE WILL OF GOD AND KISS THE HAND THAT STRIKES US, FOR WE KNOW IT IS BETTER TO SUFFER IN THIS LIFE THAN IN THE NEXT, SINCE ONE MOMENT OF SUFFERING WILLINGLY ACCEPTED FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IS WORTH AN ETERNITY OF HAPPINESS. - St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
PRAYER: Saint Margaret Mary, thou who wast made a partaker of the divine treasures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, obtain for us, we beseech thee, from this adorable Heart, the graces we need so sorely.

Saint Gerard, most perfect imitator of Jesus Our Redeemer, you whose greatest glory was to be humble and lowly, obtain that I too, knowing my littleness in God's sight may be found worthy to enter the kingdom that is promised to the humble and lowly of heart.

LET US PRAY: Almighty and Everlasting God, who did draw to Yourself Saint Gerard, even from his tenderest years, making him conformable to the Image of Your Crucified Son, grant we beseech You, that imitating his example, we may be made like unto the same Divine Image, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
