REFLECTION: Jesus spent forty days after his Resurrection appearing to his Apostles and other disciples. He instructed them in many things and gave them the opportunity to grow in friendship with him. He helped them to understand how they were to go about leading his Church through the coming years and how they were to bring more souls to him.
PRAYER: Jesus, please help us to always remain close to You, and we particularly ask You today to help all who do not know the joy of being Your followers! Help us to always do all we can to serve You worthily in our lives. Give us the grace to devote our entire lives to You. And I especially ask in this novena for,

DAY 7 - MAY 19
PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO EXPERIENCE PAINFUL ILLNESS AND REJECTION
Glorious St. Rita, you endured painful illness and the rejection of your sisters because of the terrible stench of your wound. You accepted this in peace. May we too learn to accept suffering and rejection, knowing God will never reject us.

PRAYER: Dear Saint Rita, during your entire life on earth you found your happiness by following the will of our heavenly Father. Help me to be as trusting of God in all his designs for me. Help me this day to give myself to him as you did, without limit, without fear, without counting the cost. Help me to be generous in serving the needs of others, patient in all difficulties, forgiving toward all who injure me. Help me to learn more deeply the great mystery of the cross of Jesus, so that by embracing it as you did, I may come to experience its power to heal and to save. Amen.

O Mary, by Thy presence in the upper room Thou strengthened and encouraged the apostles and disciples as they waited for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. May I always be open to the gifts of the Spirit, and may my faith always be deep and living.

PHILIP'S EXERCISE OF PRAYER
Philip, my holy Patron, teach me by thy example, and gain for me by thy intercessions, to seek my Lord and God at all times and in all places, and to live in His presence and in sacred intercourse with Him. As the children of this world look up to rich men or men in station for the favour which they desire, so may I ever lift up my eyes and hands and heart towards heaven, and betake myself to the Source of all good for those goods which I need. As the children of this world converse with their friends and find their pleasure in them, so may I ever hold communion with Saints and Angels, and with the Blessed Virgin, the Mother of my Lord. Pray with me, O Philip, as thou didst pray with thy penitents here below, and then prayer will become sweet to me, as it did to them. Amen.

PRAYER: O glorious St. Philip, who wast so favored by God with the gift of consoling and assisting thy spiritual children at the hour of death, be also my advocate and father when I shall find myself at that dreadful moment. Obtain for me that at that hour the devil may not conquer me, nor temptation overcome me, nor fear itself revile me; but that, strengthened by a lively faith, a fervent hope and, a sincere charity, I may sustain with patience and perseverance that supreme struggle, and that, full of confidence in the mercy of the Lord, and in the infinite merits of Jesus Christ and the protection of the Most Blessed Mary, I may deserve to die the death of the just, and be united with thee and all the saints in the blessed home of Paradise, to praise and enjoy the Lord forever. 5⃣ NOVENA TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
DAY 1 - MAY 19
CHARITY
Let us bow down in humility at the power and grandeur of the Holy Spirit. Let us worship the Holy Trinity and give glory today to the Paraclete, our Advocate.
Oh Holy Spirit, by thy power, Christ was raised from the dead to save us all. By thy grace, miracles are performed in Jesus' name. By thy love, we are protected from evil. And so, we ask with humility and a beggar's heart for thy gift of Charity within us.
The great charity of all the host of Saints is only made possible by thy power, Oh Divine Spirit. Increase in me, the virtue of charity that I may love as God loves with the selflessness of the Saints. Amen.
