1⃣ NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

DAY 9 - JUNE 23

THANK YOU, JESUS!

Did you know that in the Old Testament the word ‘Praise' has only one object – God! In the Psalms, to praise is to live; not praising is the same as not living, not living the life which is God's gift, to be returned in praise. A Jewish Rabbi has written, ‘It is difficult to feel depressed when you remember fairly constantly that life is a gift. Faith teaches us to make a blessing over life. Making a blessing over life is the best way of turning life into a blessing.'

TODAY'S PRAYER: I want to say ‘Thank You, Jesus' for these nine days of prayer, of talking and listening to you more closely than usual. Thank you, especially for all the things in my life that I just take for granted every day, forgetting that they are pure gifts. Amen.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, the needs of your people open your heart in love for each of us. You care for us when we are lost, sympathize with us in loneliness, and comfort us in mourning; you are closest to us where we are weakest. You love us most when we love ourselves least; you forgive us most when we forgive ourselves least; and you call us to spread your love in whatever way we can.

Lord Jesus, your heart is moved with compassion when we are suffering, when we need your help, and when we pray for each other. I ask you to listen to my prayer during this Novena, and grant what I ask.

(State your intentions here…)

If what I ask is not for my own good and the good of others, grant me what is best, that I may build up your kingdom of love in our world. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you!

2⃣ NOVENA TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

DAY 8 - JUNE 23

SANCTITY

Immaculate Mother of God, our Mother by grace, we the beloved of thy Immaculate Heart come to thee on this eighth day of this Novena to pray for the grace to become Saints of God.

Queen of Angels and Saints, we desire to become saints, not for our own glory, but for the honor and glory of God alone. At our Baptism, O Holy Mother, we were first sanctified when "the love of God was poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us." (Romans 5:5) At the same time the entire Blessed Trinity came to dwell within us. We are now in the period of our second sanctification which shall continue throughout life as we correspond with Divine inspirations, striving to practice Christian virtues. Thus we hope to grow more and more unto the likeness of thy Son, Jesus Christ. Assist us, O Holy Mother Mary, never to waste a single grace.

Mother Mary, in a living consecration to thy Immaculate Heart, we ask to live the consecration of our Baptism. May we arrive at that third sanctification which will take place when we enter Heaven. There we will become totally and irrevocably united with the Most Blessed Trinity in the Beatific Vision, in "what no eye hath seen nor ear heard, nor hath it entered into the heart of man, what things God hath prepared for them that love Him." (I Cor. 2:9)

We believe, Sweet Heart of Mary, that our sanctification lies in the performance of our daily duty in Christ, doing the will of God each day according to our state in life. May we be ever mindful, O Holy Mother, that the sacrifice especially requires of each of us is the fulfillment of His laws in the performance of our daily duty while living in a spirit of charity towards our neighbour. May we persevere in living the fullness of true faith in the Catholic Church, which is the Mystical Body of Jesus of which thou are Mother.

(State your intentions here…)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

PRAYER: O Lady of Victory, keep us ever mindful of thy Son Who said, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; for he that shall lose his life for My sake, shall save it." (Luke 9:23-24) Each one of us has a Guardian Angel to assist us in the battle against the forces of evil so as to lead us to our Heavenly home. Heavenly Mother of our Savior, keep us open to the good Holy Angels as they teach us through the voice of conscience. Thus will we live in harmony with the Word of God as taught by Holy Mother Church. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary: Pray for us!

3⃣ NOVENA TO ST. JOSEMARIA ESCRIVA

DAY 7 - JUNE 23

Heavenly Father, you have given us the shining example of St. Josemaría Escrivá. You granted him the grace and ability to minister to many when he founded Opus Dei. He shared Your word and taught people how to make their daily life and work holy. For it is in our daily life and work that we can come to know You, O God!

St. Josemaría Escrivá, we know that you are particularly close with God and so we humbly beg you to hear and answer our intentions through the grace of Our Lord.

(State your intentions here…)

O God, we long to have your peace within us. Please show us how to be holy like St. Josemaría Escrivá so that every day we may see Your loving hand in our work, our families, in our friends and in all that we do. Help us to be strong when we face illness and difficulty in life so that we may see Your good and loving hand in all situations.

Today, we come to You with a special request through the intercession of St. Josemaría Escrivá:

Dear God, help us to be thankful for the amazing gift of children. May we put great care into their formation as Christians and their material needs. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

PRAYER: St. Josemaría Escrivá, we offer our prayers and intentions into your steadfast hands with the knowledge that you will bring them to the feet of God speedily. As we ask you to pray for our intentions, we pray even more that we may become as close to Our Lord as you are. Only there, close to God, may our hearts be fulfilled. Amen.

St. Josemaría Escrivá: Pray for us!

4⃣ NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR

DAY 6 - JUNE 23

O Most Tender and Compassionate of Mothers, turn thine eyes of mercy upon me, and lend a gracious ear to my humble prayer. Since thou art more ready to give than to receive, thou wilt find in me a fitting subject for thy bounty. It is true, I have deserved rather than thou shouldst spurn me on account of the ingratitude I have hitherto shown to God for His benefits: thou art ever ready to listen to those who pray to thee, and thou regardest our misery and our confidence rather than our merits. No one is miserable than I am, and yet never have I doubted thy goodness. Incline then towards me that heart of thine so full of grace. O Mother of God and of men, grant me a share in those rich graces which God has given to thee for the whole world's benefit. I have constant need of thy help, which thou on thy part hast a still greater desire to supply. I would that all the beatings of my heart were so many acts of love for thee, of confidence in thee, and of prayer to thee, for myself and for all who are dear to me. Mayest thou have the glory one day of seeing me saved through thy intercession. O Mother of Perpetual Help, in thee I hoped: I shall not be confounded. Amen.

PRAYER: O Mother of Perpetual Succour, behold me a miserable sinner at thy feet; I have recourse to thee and put my trust in thee. O Mother of Mercy have pity upon me. I hear thee called by all the refuge and the hope of sinners, be then my refuge and my hope. Succour me for the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth thy hand to me a poor sinner, who recommend and dedicate myself to thee as thy perpetual servant. I bless and thank GOD for having in His mercy given me this confidence in thee, the pledge as I believe of my eternal salvation. Alas! Too often in past times have I miserably fallen, because I had not recourse to thee! I know that with thy help I shall conquer. I know that thou will help me if I recommend myself to thee; but I fear lest in the occasion of falling. I should cease to call upon thee and so should lose my soul. This, then, is the grace I seek from thee; and I beg of thee, as far as I know how and can, to obtain it for me; namely, in the assaults of hell, always to have recourse to thee and to say to thee: O Mary help me; Mother of Perpetual Succour, suffer me not to lose my God. Amen.

(State your intentions here…)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be... (3 times)

Holy Mary, succour the miserable, help the faint hearted, cheer those that weep, pray for the people, be the advocate of the clergy, intercede for all devout woman; let all feel thine aid who implore thy perpetual succour.

Mother of Perpetual Succour: Pray for us!

5⃣ NOVENA TO STS. PETER AND PAUL

DAY 4 - JUNE 23

ROMANS 8: 28, 38

“We know that in all things God works for good with those who love Him, those whom He has called according to His purpose. For I am certain that nothing can separate us from His love, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above or the world below; there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

REFLECTION: Who can we always depend on? Who can write straight with crooked lines? Who is always there for us? When we feel distant from God, who moved?

PRAYER: Dear God, help me to remember that you and you alone are the source of Power and Love I can always depend on. Help me to love, respect, honor and show gratitude to you in all things and all circumstances. Help me to build a Temple to honor you for the King that you are.

O holy Apostles, Peter and Paul, I choose you this day and forever to be my special patrons and advocates; thee, Saint Peter, Prince of the Apostles, because thou art the Rock, upon which Almighty God hath built His Church; thee, Saint Paul, because thou wast fore-chosen by God as the Vessel of election and the Preacher of truth in the whole world.

(State your intentions here...)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

Obtain for me, I pray you, lively faith, firm hope, and burning love; complete detachment from myself, contempt of the world, patience in adversity, humility in prosperity, attention in prayer, purity of heart, a right intention in all my works, diligence in fulfilling the duties of my state of life, constancy in my resolutions, resignation to the will of God and perseverance in the grace of God even unto death; that so, by means of your intercession and your glorious merits, I may be able to overcome the temptations of the world, the flesh and the devil, and may be made worthy to appear before the chief and eternal Shepherd of souls, Jesus Christ, Who with the Father and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth for endless ages, to enjoy His presence and love Him forever. Amen.

Sts. Peter and Paul: Pray for us!
