1⃣ ST. MARIA GORETTI
♦ St. Maria Goretti was an Italian virgin-martyr of the Catholic Church, and one of the youngest canonized saints.
♦ She was born to a farming family. Her father died when she was nine, and they had to share a house with another family, the Serenellis. Maria took over household duties while her mother, brothers, and sister worked in the fields.
♦ Maria Goretti is best known for her commitment to purity and the courageous defence of her faith at the young age of 11 that made her willing to undergo death rather than participate in a sin against God.
♦ She is also remarkable for the forgiveness she willingly granted her attacker Alessandro as she lay on her deathbed.
♦ She is the patron saint of chastity, rape victims, girls, youth, teenage girls, poverty, purity and forgiveness.

2⃣ ST. BENEDICT OF NURSIA
♦ St. Benedict, blessed by God both in grace and in name, Patriarch of Western Monasticism, and founder of the Order which bears his name, was born in Nursia, Italy, in 480 and died in 547.
♦ As the Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ was the chief object of devotion among the first Christians, so was it also with St. Benedict. It was this devotion to the Cross, the sign of our redemption that gave rise to the Medal of St. Benedict, for devotion to the sign of our salvation.
♦ The Saint often employed the sign of the Cross to work miracles and to overcome the devil and his temptations. Hence from the earliest centuries after his death he is represented bearing the Cross of Christ and the Holy Rule.
♦ We believe, that with St. Benedict's intervention, we are aided to put the evil one to flight!

3⃣ OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL
Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Brown Scapular
♦ Two truths of the Scapular:
♦ The constant protection of the Blessed Virgin, not only on life's journey, but also at the moment of passing into the fullness of eternal glory.
♦ The awareness that devotion to her cannot be limited to prayers and tributes in her honor on certain occasions, but must become a "habit", that is, a permanent orientation of one's own Christian conduct, prayer and interior life, through frequent reception of the sacraments and the concrete practice of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
♦ In this way the Scapular becomes a sign of the "covenant" and reciprocal communion between Mary and the faithful:
♦ Promises/Benefits
♦ "...whosoever dies wearing this (the brown scapular) shall not suffer eternal fire" (Blessed Virgin Mary's promise to St. Simon Stock)
♦ Partial indulgence granted by Pope Benedict XV to those who devoutly kiss their scapular.
♦ Sabbatine Privilege: Release from purgatory on the first Saturday after death (revelation by the Blessed Virgin Mary to Pope John XXII in 1322). ?.
♦ We believe, that with OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL we can grow in purity and overcome sin.
