1⃣ NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

DAY 9 - JUNE 18

THANK YOU, JESUS!

Did you know that in the Old Testament the word ‘Praise' has only one object – God! In the Psalms, to praise is to live; not praising is the same as not living, not living the life which is God's gift, to be returned in praise. A Jewish Rabbi has written, ‘It is difficult to feel depressed when you remember fairly constantly that life is a gift. Faith teaches us to make a blessing over life. Making a blessing over life is the best way of turning life into a blessing.'

TODAY'S PRAYER

I want to say ‘Thank You, Jesus' for these nine days of prayer, of talking and listening to you more closely than usual. Thank you, especially for all the things in my life that I just take for granted every day, forgetting that they are pure gifts. Amen.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, the needs of your people open your heart in love for each of us. You care for us when we are lost, sympathize with us in loneliness, and comfort us in mourning; you are closest to us where we are weakest. You love us most when we love ourselves least; you forgive us most when we forgive ourselves least; and you call us to spread your love in whatever way we can.

Lord Jesus, your heart is moved with compassion when we are suffering, when we need your help, and when we pray for each other. I ask you to listen to my prayer during this Novena, and grant what I ask.

(State your intentions here…)

If what I ask is not for my own good and the good of others, grant me what is best, that I may build up your kingdom of love in our world. Amen.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

2⃣ NOVENA TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

DAY 8 - JUNE 18

SANCTITY

Immaculate Mother of God, our Mother by grace, we the beloved of thy Immaculate Heart come to thee on this eighth day of this Novena to pray for the grace to become Saints of God.

Queen of Angels and Saints, we desire to become saints, not for our own glory, but for the honor and glory of God alone. At our Baptism, O Holy Mother, we were first sanctified when "the love of God was poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us." (Romans 5:5) At the same time the entire Blessed Trinity came to dwell within us. We are now in the period of our second sanctification which shall continue throughout life as we correspond with Divine inspirations, striving to practice Christian virtues. Thus we hope to grow more and more unto the likeness of thy Son, Jesus Christ. Assist us, O Holy Mother Mary, never to waste a single grace.

Mother Mary, in a living consecration to thy Immaculate Heart, we ask to live the consecration of our Baptism. May we arrive at that third sanctification which will take place when we enter Heaven. There we will become totally and irrevocably united with the Most Blessed Trinity in the Beatific Vision, in "what no eye hath seen nor ear heard, nor hath it entered into the heart of man, what things God hath prepared for them that love Him." (I Cor. 2:9)

We believe, Sweet Heart of Mary, that our sanctification lies in the performance of our daily duty in Christ, doing the will of God each day according to our state in life. May we be ever mindful, O Holy Mother, that the sacrifice especially requires of each of us is the fulfillment of His laws in the performance of our daily duty while living in a spirit of charity towards our neighbour. May we persevere in living the fullness of true faith in the Catholic Church, which is the Mystical Body of Jesus of which thou are Mother.

PRAYER

O Lady of Victory, keep us ever mindful of thy Son Who said, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; for he that shall lose his life for My sake, shall save it." (Luke 9:23-24) Each one of us has a Guardian Angel to assist us in the battle against the forces of evil so as to lead us to our Heavenly home. Heavenly Mother of our Savior, keep us open to the good Holy Angels as they teach us through the voice of conscience. Thus will we live in harmony with the Word of God as taught by Holy Mother Church. Amen.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

3⃣ NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR

DAY 1 - JUNE 18

Blessed forever be our God Who had made thee, O Mary, so powerful, so compassionate and so ready to help. What would become of us, poor sinners, without thee? With what face, after having so often deserved disgrace and punishment, could we go before our sovereign Judge, and ask of Him, not only pardon, but favours, and share in eternal glory? Blessed be thou too, O clement Queen, for having so often interposed between divine justice and me, thy most unworthy client, for having turned away God's anger from me, and for having obtained for me so many graces. These graces are my desires for those I may and ought still to hope for from thy Perpetual Help. Hence for the time to come, whenever I feel more painfully the weight of my unworthiness, when all seems lost, and I am tempted even to despair, then especially, full of confidence, will I invoke thy blessed name. I will make my misery a claim on thy mercy. I will believe that if God lets me feel my weakness, it is to force me to cast myself into the arms of His mercy and upon thee, my sweet and only hope. Deign to remember this resolution in my time of need, and grant that I may be faithful to it, till my last breath. And the Most Mother of Perpetual Help, grant that I may never cease to have recourse to thee. Amen.

PRAYER

O Mother of Perpetual Succour, behold me a miserable sinner at thy feet; I have recourse to thee and put my trust in thee. O Mother of Mercy have pity upon me. I hear thee called by all the refuge and the hope of sinners, be then my refuge and my hope. Succour me for the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth thy hand to me a poor sinner, who recommend and dedicate myself to thee as thy perpetual servant. I bless and thank GOD for having in His mercy given me this confidence in thee, the pledge as I believe of my eternal salvation. Alas! Too often in past times have I miserably fallen, because I had not recourse to thee! I know that with thy help I shall conquer. I know that thou will help me if I recommend myself to thee; but I fear lest in the occasion of falling. I should cease to call upon thee and so should lose my soul. This, then, is the grace I seek from thee; and I beg of thee, as far as I know how and can, to obtain it for me; namely, in the assaults of hell, always to have recourse to thee and to say to thee: O Mary help me; Mother of Perpetual Succour, suffer me not to lose my God. Amen.

(Say 3 Hail Mary's to obtain the special favours you seek)

Holy Mary, succour the miserable, help the faint hearted, cheer those that weep, pray for the people, be the advocate of the clergy, intercede for all devout woman; let all feel thine aid who implore thy perpetual succour.

Thou has been made for us, O Lady, a Refuge.

A helper in need and tribulation.

Mother of Perpetual Succour, pray for us.

4⃣ NOVENA TO ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST

DAY 4 - JUNE 18

O Glorious, St. John the Baptist, greatest prophet among those born of woman, although thou was sanctified in thy mother's womb and didst lead a most innocent life, nevertheless it was thy will to retire into the wilderness, there to devote thyself to the practice of austerity and penance; obtain for us of thy Lord the grace to be wholly detached, at least in our hearts, from earthly goods, and to practice Christian mortification with interior recollection and with the spirit of holy prayer. Amen.

O glorious St. John the Baptist, through the love thou does bear to Jesus Christ, and for the glory of His Name,

Hear our prayers and obtain our petitions...

(State your intentions here...)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be...

St. John, who baptized Jesus in the Jordan, pray for us.

St. John the Baptist, intrepid preacher of truth, pray for us.

5⃣ NOVENA TO ST. JOSEMARIA ESCRIVA

DAY 2 - JUNE 18

Heavenly Father, you have given us the shining example of St. Josemaría Escrivá. You granted him the grace and ability to minister to many when he founded Opus Dei. He shared Your word and taught people how to make their daily life and work holy. For it is in our daily life and work that we can come to know You, O God!

St. Josemaría Escrivá, we know that you are particularly close with God and so we humbly beg you to hear and answer our intentions through the grace of Our Lord.

(State your intentions here…)

O God, we long to have your peace within us. Please show us how to be holy like St. Josemaría Escrivá so that every day we may see Your loving hand in our work, our families, in our friends and in all that we do. Help us to be strong when we face illness and difficulty in life so that we may see Your good and loving hand in all situations.

Today, we come to You with a special request through the intercession of St. Josemaría Escrivá:

Dear God, help us to obtain honest, suitable and steady employment. Please assist us in being grateful when we do get a job, that we may see it as a great treasure.

PRAYER

St. Josemaría Escrivá, we offer our prayers and intentions into your steadfast hands with the knowledge that you will bring them to the feet of God speedily. As we ask you to pray for our intentions, we pray even more that we may become as close to Our Lord as you are. Only there, close to God, may our hearts be fulfilled. Amen.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

St. Jose María Escrivá, pray for us.
