♦ Dear Friend in Christ ♦

We are very glad to announce that our next ‘TWO NOVENAS' are

_

1⃣ THE FIRST NOVENA is to ST. POPE JOHN PAUL II

♦ He was the bishop of Rome and head of the Roman Catholic Church from 1978–2005. He was the first non-Italian Pope in 455 years and the first from a Slavic country. His pontificate of more than 26 years was the third longest in history.

♦ As part of his effort to promote greater understanding between nations and between religions, he undertook numerous trips abroad, traveling far greater distances (129 nations) than had all other popes combined.

♦ Saint John Paul II has the honor as the one human who has gathered the most humans together in one spot! At the 1995 World Youth Day in the Philippines, an estimated 5 million people attended a Holy Mass that His Holiness celebrated.

♦ He was shot on May 13, 1981 – May 13 is the anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima's first apparition! Saint John Paul II later publicly forgave his would-be assassin. He said the Virgin had saved his life by guiding the bullet away from vital organs.

♦ Saint John Paul II could speak Latin, his native Polish, Slovak, Russian, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Ukrainian, and English.

♦ He was the first Pope to visit the White House in the United States.

♦ Saint John Paul II received pre-processed food through a nasal tube during the last week of his life.

♦ How did he die? The Vatican stated that he had died from “cardiocirculatory collapse and septic shock.”

We begin praying this NOVENA from SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13th

The Feast of ST. POPE JOHN PAUL II is on OCTOBER 22nd!

_

2⃣ THE SECOND NOVENA is to ST. JUDE

♦ St. Jude, known as Thaddaeus, was a brother of St. James the Less, and a relative of Our Saviour.

♦ He was one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus. Images of St. Jude often include a flame around his head, which represent his presence at Pentecost, when he accepted the Holy Spirit alongside the other apostles.

♦ Pilgrims came to St. Jude's grave to pray and many reported a powerful intercession, leading to the title, "The Saint for the Hopeless and the Despaired." Two Saints, St. Bridget of Sweden and St. Bernard, had visions from God asking them to accept St. Jude as "The Patron Saint of the Impossible."

♦ Roman Catholics invoke St. Jude when in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances - just as their forefathers had done before them; therefore, he is the patron saint of desperate cases.

♦ There have also been several sites across the world dedicated to the Apostle Jude, including shrines and churches. The National Shrine of Saint Jude was founded in 1955 and can be found in England.

We begin praying this NOVENA from FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19th

The Feast of ST. JUDE is on OCTOBER 28th!
