DAY 7 – NOVEMBER 7

The Souls in Purgatory appreciate the things of God more fully than we. Enlightened by divine love, they understand the respect and obedience which God merited from them, and the ingratitude and baseness of their sins.

Psalm 129 (130)

Out of the depths, I have cried to Thee, O Lord, Lord, hear my voice.
R. Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, O Lord, shalt mark my iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand it?
R. For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness: and by reason of Thy law I have waited for Thee, O Lord.
My soul hath relied on His word; my soul hath hoped in the Lord.
R. From the morning watch even until night; let Israel hope in the Lord.

O Lord Jesus Christ, Whose adorable Heart sighs for the love and happiness of Thy banished children, we beseech Thee to remember the souls of Thy servants for whom we pray: Command them, we beg of Thee, to be received by Thy holy Angels and with them eternal happiness and glory in Heaven. Amen.

THE PRAYER OF ST. GERTRUDE (TO HELP A THOUSAND SOULS IN PURGATORY)

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

DEVOUT AFFECTIONS ON THE PASSION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

FIRST PRAYER: NOVEMBER 7

O Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal sweetness and jubilee of those who love Thee, remember all the presentment of grief Thou didst endure from the moment of Thy conception, and especially at Thy entrance into Thy Passion, when Thou didst say: My soul is sorrowful even unto death; and when, by reason of Thy overwhelming dread and anguish and grief, Thou didst sweat, as it were, drops of Blood trickling down upon the ground. Remember all the bitterness of Thy sorrow when Thou wast seized upon by the Jews, accused by false witnesses, condemned by three judges, buffeted and smitten, spit upon, scourged, and crowned with thorns. O sweetest Jesus, I implore Thee, by all the sorrows and insults Thou didst endure, have mercy on me, a sinner.

SAINT GERTRUDE THE GREAT CHAPLET

(Our Lord told St. Gertrude the Great that the following prayer would release 1,000 Souls from Purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was later extended to include living sinners as well.)
