Lord, we thank You for giving us St. Aloysius Gonzaga as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the love of You he showed throughout his years of poor health and his commitment to caring for the ill around him. St. Aloysius Gonzaga, you suffered from illness for many years. Despite your sufferings, you put your time to good use in prayer and holy reading. Please continue to bring my petitions before the throne of God!

When you became aware that your brothers and sisters in Christ were suffering with symptoms of an infectious disease, you asked to be allowed to care for them. You did not hesitate to risk your life caring for them, out of love for God. Pray for me, that I may always seek to serve God in the suffering around me. Pray that I may never allow my own sufferings to deter me from serving God. Amen.

DAY 5 - JUNE 17
Most holy body and blood of Christ, may we receive the grace of perseverance in Your love.
Most Holy and Almighty God, we thank you and praise you for giving us the most precious body and blood of Your only son, Jesus Christ. Through the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion we are able to nourish our bodies and souls. We thank you for having made Yourself our food and for uniting us with You in this beautiful Sacrament.
In receiving the body and blood of Jesus, we live in You and through You. We praise you for offering Yourself as a continual sacrifice to Your Eternal Father for our salvation. Although we are not worthy to receive You, You sacrifice Yourself for us daily. And so, we request your most Holy intercession:

PRAYER: Dear Lord Jesus, You made the ultimate sacrifice so that You could wash away the sins of the whole world. You have left us the great gift of your body and blood through the Holy Eucharist. We thank you and praise you every day for renewing in the daily sacrifice the actual sacrifice of the cross offered on Calvary, in which you gave divine justice and love for all of us sinners. Amen.

REFLECTION: HUMILITY AND WISDOM
Lord God, we honor the memory of our Saint, Saint Thomas More.
In his earthly life, he was a model of humility.
He never allowed pride to lead him into enterprises beyond his abilities.
Even in the midst of earthly wealth and honor, he never forgot his total dependence on you, his Heavenly Father.
We ask that you grant to us, through his prayers and intercession, the grace of an increase in humility and the wisdom not to overestimate our own powers.
We also ask that, through his powerful intercession, we may obtain the favors we seek in this novena:

Heavenly Father, you have given us the shining example of St. Josemaría Escrivá. You granted him the grace and ability to minister to many when he founded Opus Dei. He shared Your word and taught people how to make their daily life and work holy. For it is in our daily life and work that we can come to know You, O God!
St. Josemaría Escrivá, we know that you are particularly close with God and so we humbly beg you to hear and answer our intentions through the grace of Our Lord.

O God, we long to have your peace within us. Please show us how to be holy like St. Josemaría Escrivá so that every day we may see Your loving hand in our work, our families, in our friends and in all that we do. Help us to be strong when we face illness and difficulty in life so that we may see Your good and loving hand in all situations.
