1⃣ ST. FRANCIS DE SALES
♦ St. Francis de Sales was a French Bishop and Doctor of the Church.
♦ Once St. Francis fell from his horse three times, and every time he fell, the sword came out of the scabbard, and both the sword and scabbard came to rest on the ground in the shape of the cross.
♦ As a Catholic priest, he cultivated the more personal Salesian style of spirituality (which was later used by Don Bosco).
♦ St. Francis de Sales, co-founded the Visitation of Holy Mary order with St. Jane Frances de Chantal.
♦ St. Francis brought through his Catholic Pamplets 40,000 Protestants back to the Catholic Church.
♦ His most famous book, INTRODUCTION TO THE DEVOUT LIFE, was written for ordinary lay people in 1608, not just the clergy and religious.
♦ He is the Patron of Catholic writers, the Catholic press, the Deaf, Journalists and Adult Education.

2⃣ ST. THOMAS AQUINAS
♦ St. Thomas Aquinas was a Dominican priest and Scriptural theologian, one of the foremost minds of medieval scholasticism.
♦ Before Aquinas was born, a holy hermit told his mother that her son would be a great learner and achieve unrivaled sanctity.
♦ He was born and grew up in a castle of a well-to-do family in Roccasecca, Italy.
♦ St. Thomas Aquinas believed that the existence of God could be proven in five ways.
♦ As he had a lifelong fear of storms. St. Thomas always carried a relic of St. Agnes and prayed to her for protection during storms.
♦ He ran away from home to follow his Dominican vocation. On occasions, Aquinas had spiritual ecstasies and could levitate.
♦ He wrote the Summa theologiae, a compendium of all of the main theological teachings of the Catholic Church, which presents the reasoning for almost all points of Christian theology.
♦ At the Council of Trent, St. Aquinas' "Summa Theologica" was placed on the altar alongside the Bible and the Decretals.
♦ He organized schools for shoemakers, tailors, coachmen, carpenters, and gardeners so that they could better work at their trade, as well as evening classes for young farmers and unskilled workers.
♦ He is recognized as the leading theological authority within the Roman Catholic Church.
♦ He is the Patron of Students and Universities.
