1⃣ NOVENA TO ST. BONAVENTURE (PATRON OF BOWEL DISORDER)

DAY 9 - JULY 14

O St. Bonaventure, you chose a life of mortification and great humility. By choosing to serve those who were rejected and sick, you willingly risked illness yourself. You made your life a continuous prayer and spent many hours meditating on the wounds of Christ. Help us to imitate the holiness you showed in your lifelong service to God as a Friar, a bishop, and a theologian.

St. Bonaventure, you chose to serve God by entering the Franciscans. You served God as Minister General of the order, and you continued to serve Him and His Church later in your role as a bishop.

Please continue to bring my petitions before God!

Throughout your life, you did a lot for the Church, through your work and your many writings. Today, you are considered one of the greatest Doctors of the Church.

Pray for me, that I may always seek to put my gifts to the service and God and His Church. Pray that I may generously respond to God's call to serve Him in my life.

You give us hope, O Mother of Mercy, that through your Scapular promise we might quickly pass through the fires of purgatory to the Kingdom of your Son. Be our comfort and our hope. Grant that our hope may not be in vain but that, ever faithful to your Son and to you, we may speedily enjoy after death the blessed company of Jesus and the saints.

PRAYER: Our Lady of Mount Carmel, glorious Queen of Angels, channel of God's tenderest mercy to man, refuge and advocate of sinners, with confidence I prostrate myself before thee, beseeching thee to obtain for me. In return I solemnly promise to have recourse to thee in all my trials, sufferings and temptations, and I shall do all in my power to induce others to love and reverence thee and to invoke thee in all their needs. I thank thee for the numberless blessings which I have received from thy mercy and powerful intercession. Continue to be my shield in danger, my guide in life, and my consolation at the hour of death. Amen.
