THE BLESSING OF HOUSES AT OTHER TIMES THAN EASTER
The priest who is to bless the house enters and says:
V. Peace be upon this house.
R. And upon all who dwell herein.
Then he sprinkles the main rooms of the house and the occupants, saying meanwhile:
Ant: Sprinkle me with hyssop, O Lord, and I shall be cleansed. Wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.
Ps. Have mercy on me, O God, as thou art ever rich in mercy.
V. Glory be to the Father.
The Antiphon is repeated.
V. Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come to thee.
V. The Lord be with you.
R. And with your spirit.
LET US PRAY: Graciously hear us, holy Lord and Father, almighty and eternal God: in thy goodness send thy holy angel from heaven to watch over all who dwell in this house. May his coming put new heart in them; may he protect them and be with them to defend them from all harm. Through Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.
